The Human Early Learning Partnership is thrilled to announce the addition of another new faculty member, Dr. Christine Voss.
Dr. Voss is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and is primarily based at the UBC Centre for Chronic Disease Prevention and Management on the UBC Okanagan (UBCO) campus in Kelowna. She is also an Investigator with the British Columbia Children’s Hospital Research Institute and an Affiliate Investigator with Interior Health.
“It is an absolute privilege to join HELP as a faculty member,” says Voss. “Few places come to mind that tackle issues around child health with same conviction as HELP — even fewer that achieve such impactful results. I cannot wait to contribute my skills to the invaluable work of this fabulous team.”
Dr. Voss’s research examines how physical activity behaviours relate to current and long-term health outcomes in children, and to identify strategies to improve physical activity participation in children. Her research frequently utilizes state-of-the art technologies to understand complex physical activity behaviours, particularly in at-risk pediatric populations in whom such insight might inform clinical care.
“We’re delighted to welcome Dr. Christine Voss to HELP,” says Dr. Mariana Brussoni, Director of HELP. “She brings a rich research program on children’s physical activity and active travel, along with a focus on children in both clinical and community-based settings. Christine’s appointment further strengthens our relationship with UBCO and Interior Health — we’re excited to explore new avenues of work together.”
