Event Description

This Ideas in Progress event presented by HELP will feature a presentation by Dr. Janet Loebach, the Evalyn Edwards Milman Assistant Professor for Child Development in the Department of Human Centered Design at Cornell University.

Dr. Loebach’s presentation, Designing Healthy Outdoor Play Environments for and with Children, will provide an overview of why and how we should be designing outdoor play environments to support children’s healthy development, as well as key insights from Dr. Loebach’s research examining the features and conditions of play environments which can support diverse play behaviours and experiences for young children. Dr. Loebach will also discuss mechanisms by which we can engage children in research and design of outdoor playspaces.

About Ideas in Progress

Ideas in Progress sessions are informal research-focused presentations, providing an opportunity for HELP faculty, students, staff and affiliates to learn about each other’s work and allow the presenter(s) to share their work within a casual setting. These sessions are collaborative in nature and aim to promote discussion and feedback. At this time, the sessions are taking place on a monthly basis (between September and June) over Zoom.
