This page provide access to a variety of data sets, both generated from HELP research and gathered from external sources. The data sets are available in excel format, for various geographies such as neighbourhoods (NH), school districts (SD), local heath areas (LHA), and the province (BC).

These data tables provide EDI data at the neighbourhood, school district, local heath area and provincial levels. Data from Wave 1 are not generally reported - the data are used as a benchmark.

Census & National Household Survey

Our census data tables include commonly used socio-economic and demographic variables for HELP Neighbourhoods. We have now expanded the original list of 19 core variables to over 100 variables for 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016. These variables have been selected for their particular relevance to early child development research, program planning, and policy development.

HELP has purchased many more Census variables than are included in these data tables. Please contact us if you would like to discuss a specific data set that is not included here. There will be a charge associated with preparing unique data requests. If you require census data for other geographies (SD, LHA, HSDA) look at BC Stats open data.

*With the 2011 NHS there has been a change in Statscan's data standards. Prior to the 2011 NHS geographic areas with a global non-response rate greater than 5% were deemed less reliable, and areas with a rate 25% or greater were suppressed. With the 2011 NHS areas with a GNR greater than 50% are suppressed, and there isn't a flag for less reliable data.

Vancouver Demographic Reports

The Vancouver Early Years Partnership (VEYP) and HELP collaborated on a research project to produce detailed demographic reports for all 21 Vancouver Neighbourhoods. These profiles include key data of what we know about children and families in our city, compiled into one easy to reference document. The intention of these profiles is to encourage thought, reflection, conversation and the desire to know more and do more. Our hope is that this information provides local planning tables, service providers, government, funders and others the data needed to work collaboratively to make changes that will improve the lives of children and their families.
