On behalf of everyone at HELP, Thank You to all of the teachers, students, school administrators, school district staff, parents, and community early and middle years representatives for your time and dedication to both the Early Development Instrument (EDI) and Middle Years Development Instrument (MDI) during the 2018/2019 administration and collection.
Early Development Instrument
This is the final year of Wave 7 for the EDI and we are excited for the fall and the release of EDI Community Profiles, EDI Subscales Community Profiles and our Wave 7 Provincial Report. Please watch HELP’s social media channels for information about report releases and associated events.
To date we have collected EDI results for over 13,000 children in BC, with an estimated 15,000 expected once administration closes in March. With your contribution we are learning more about how our children are doing so we can support efforts to improve the health and well-being of ALL children in BC.
We would like to take a moment to personally thank our EDI trainers who have worked so closely with us. Your role in our Network has been an important part of our success. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do to support our collective work in improving the well-being of children and families.
Middle Years Development Instrument
This was another exceptional year for MDI collection both in British Columbia and across the country! Thirty-one school districts participated in BC. In addition, school districts and boards in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Manitoba, completed the survey. Together we collected MDI results for over 36,000 students.
A reminder that the MDI administration date change in BC means report release dates will also change. Please note the following BC report release dates:
• School Reports - mid-April
• School District and Community Reports, without Neighbourhood Profiles and Maps - mid- May
• School District and Community Reports, including Neighbourhood Profiles and Maps - late spring.
We could not do this without you. Thank you to all teachers and teacher aids, administrators, district staff, parents and children for participating in MDI collection. We are so grateful for your support.
