Overview of the March Retreat
9:45 ‐ 10:45am: NGO Participation at the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child: Process and an Analysis
Presenter Name: Lynell Anderson
The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child is reviewing Canada’s reporting under the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The review process includes opportunities for Non‐Government Organizations (NGO’s) to provide alternative reports to the Committee and, potentially, to be invited to meet with the Committee to discuss their analysis in person. Lynell Anderson recently participated in this meeting, along with other members of Canada’s NGO delegation. She will share highlights of the overall UN process and an analysis of Canada’s status under General Comment 7 (GC 7) – Implementing Child Rights in Early Childhood.

Presenter Name: Joanne Wooldrige
The VCH team will provide an overview of how the Health Sector currently uses EDI data and where additional impact is possible.
Public Health Early Years Services in Vancouver Coastal Health Authority
Joanne Wooldridge is a Public Health Nurse by training and is currently the Regional Leader for Early Childhood Development in the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCH). Joanne's presentation is a great opportunity to learn about the public health side of early child development. Joanne will outline the various roles and disciplines that provide health services in the early years, discuss current Ministry of Health initiatives that impact children and families; and, share how VCH has used EDI data.
