The Toddler Development Instrument (TDI) is a questionnaire for parents/caregivers of 12-24-month-olds, focusing on early experiences and environments. Accessible online or on paper, it’s distributed in various early years services but is currently in the Pilot phase with no public reports or maps available.

CHEQ School District and neighbourhood level reports are only accessible for districts in the 2022-2023 data collection. Keep in mind, some reports may be suppressed in these districts.

Suppression occurs when coverage of the population is low or the population size of an area is very small. More specifically, data are suppressed when there are fewer than 35 children in a school district or neighbourhood for confidentiality reasons. The data are also suppressed when the uncertainty of the results (i.e., margin of error) is greater than 10%, which can result from low coverage particularly in areas with small populations.

Discover 20 years of EDI data with HELP’s latest release, Wave 8 (2019-2022). The release includes the new EDI Data Dashboard for interactive insights and a Provincial Summary for a comprehensive overview of trends in child development over the years. EDI Data files are available in the Data Library.

Access MDI Reports for participating districts from 2019/20 onwards at both project and school district levels. Note: 2022/23 School District Reports no longer include neighborhood profiles, available on the MDI Data Dashboard. The MDI 2022-2023 Summary Report is on the way! For reports from earlier years, contact mdi@help.ubc.ca.

The YDI is an annual online questionnaire gathering vital youth development data in British Columbia. Developed by Dr. Hasina Samji and the SFU CHART Lab, it’s expanding to more school districts. Over 26,000 BC youths have participated since its 2020 pilot. Explore the project and resources at the Capturing Health and Resiliency Trajectories (CHART) Lab.
