Tavinder K Ark
Tavinder K. Ark received her PhD from the University of British Columbia in Measurement, Evaluation and Research Methodology with a focus on Generalizability Theory and Structural Equation Modeling under the supervision of Dr. Bruno Zumbo. She earned her BSc and MSc in Psychology at McMaster University in the area of Cognition with its application to Medical Education. She has spent over 10 years working in Medical Education staring at McMaster University and then at New York University School of Medicine. Her worked focused on physician decision-making and improving the measurement around the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE). She has extensive training and experience in inferential statistics (e.g., analysis of variance and regression models), psychometrics (including validity analyses and generalizability theory), complex survey techniques (e.g., bootstrapping, linkage of longitudinal data), and modeling techniques such as factor analysis, multi-level modeling and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Her statistics and psychometric interest focuses on reliability and validity of assessments tools by conducting simulations to better understand the impact of categorical data in statistical theories such as measurement invariance and generalizability theory, and applying machine learning to large data sets and efficiency in data cleaning techniques.
Tavinder is happy to be working with 5 amazing people on the Data Analytic and Management team (DMAT), who are Lisa, Barb, Ryan, Nigel and Agata.
