As the Middle Years Knowledge-to-Action Lead, Alex Gist works with schools and community to use research to support the improved wellbeing of children in the middle years. He has over 15 years of experience working in different areas within the educational field including teaching high school English, teaching newcomer and refugee youth English and life skills, and managing social and emotional learning (SEL) based after-school programs. Alex is also a PhD student in the Human Development, Learning and Culture at the University of British Columbia. His research interests include social emotional development in youth, SEL in teacher education and SEL in Out of School Time.
