Leadership changes at HELP
It is with both great happiness and deep sadness that we announce that Joanne Schroeder will be leaving HELP in June 2014. She has accepted an offer to take the position of Executive Director at the Comox Valley Child Development Association. Joanne has intended for some time to return to work in her home community. We are excited that this position affords her the opportunity to have more time with her family while also allowing her to continue to contribute to promoting the healthy development of all children.
Joanne has been connected to the work of HELP almost since our inception. She has fulfilled the role of Deputy Director for four years and has lead with wisdom, passion and care particularly through the last year as we have mourned the loss of Clyde Hertzman. We will miss her greatly. Hers will be large shoes to fill.
As the work of HELP has expanded to cover new and exciting research areas, and as our research has become increasingly embedded in this Province and across Canada, so the need for substantial leadership has grown. HELP will be coordinating a search for a senior operational leader in the coming few weeks. We expect to be able to post a Managing Director position very soon and will be counting on our partners to circulate it widely.
